Three community vigilantes were reportedly killed after armed men attacked a community in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State on Tuesday night.
The incident occurred at about 11pm while the vigilantes were reportedly carrying out their routine patrol and protecting residents in the community.
A resident, Gabriel Ayuba, who confirmed the incident to journalists, said the attackers opened fire on the vigilantes during the operation.

According to him, the victims were on duty when they came under attack, describing the incident as a setback for community members who volunteer to protect lives and property.
The spokesperson of the Berom Youth Moulders, Rwang Tengwong, also confirmed that three people were killed in the attack.
Tengwong condemned the incident and called on security agencies to increase patrols and strengthen measures to protect communities in the area.
He urged the authorities to investigate the attack, identify those responsible and prosecute them.
The community leader also appealed to residents to remain alert and promptly report suspicious movements or activities to security agencies.

The latest incident has reportedly increased tension among residents, with concerns over the safety of communities and those involved in local security efforts.
As of the time of filing this report, efforts to obtain confirmation from the security agencies were unsuccessful.
