GOV ENO CONDOLES OSUNG FAMILY OVER DAUGHTER’S DEATH

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has sympathised with the family of Chief Okon Osung over the death of their daughter, Affiong Okon Osung, describing her passing as painful and deeply saddening.

The governor’s condolence message was delivered on Tuesday by the Coordinator of the Office of the First Lady, Lady Helen Eno Obareki, during the funeral ceremony held at the Dr Val Attah Open Space, Osongama, Uyo.

In the message, Governor Eno expressed sadness over the demise of the late Affiong Osung and extended condolences to the bereaved family.

“I received with deep sadness the news of the unfortunate passing of your beloved daughter, Late Affiong Okon Osung, and I extend my heartfelt condolences to you and your family during this profoundly difficult time,” the governor stated.

He noted that losing a loved one, especially a child, was one of life’s most painful experiences, adding that the deceased would be remembered for the love, warmth, and joy she shared with others.

Governor Eno urged the family to find strength in the memories they shared with the deceased and prayed for divine comfort and fortitude.

“On behalf of the Government and people of Akwa Ibom State, I commiserate with you and your family and pray that God grants the soul of your beloved daughter eternal rest,” he added.

Speaking during the ceremony, the Assistant Regional ECK Spiritual Aide, South-South and Officiating Clergy, Engr. Peter Umana, encouraged mourners to remain steadfast in faith despite the pain caused by death.

He described death as a transition into a higher spiritual realm and urged attendees to remain devoted to God.

Tributes were also paid by political associates, friends, and members of the spiritual community, who described the late Affiong Osung as compassionate, outspoken, and impactful.

The member representing Oron/Mbo/Okobo/Udung Uko/Urueoffong Oruko Federal Constituency, Martin Esin, said the deceased lived a life that positively touched many people.

Other speakers, including Dr Asuquo Awana and Mr Ekanem Etim, described her as loving and warm-hearted, while Mr Idorenyin Ufot, who spoke on behalf of Eckankar, encouraged the family to remain strong during the grieving period.

Late Affiong Okon Osung, born on September 8, 1984, was a lecturer at Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic, Ikot Osurua, before her passing.

The funeral ceremony was attended by the Deputy Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Senator Akon Eyakenyi and her spouse, alongside political stakeholders, academics, family members, and sympathisers from different walks of life.
