Ghana have reportedly approached Crystal Palace forward Eddie Nketiah over a possible switch of his international allegiance from England.
According to Standard Sport, the 27-year-old is considering the proposal but has not yet decided whether to represent Ghana, the country of his parents’ birth.
Nketiah was born in Lewisham, London, to Ghanaian parents and represented England at youth level, becoming the country’s all-time leading scorer at Under-21 level.
He made his senior England debut in October 2023, coming on for Ollie Watkins in the 73rd minute of a 1-0 friendly victory over Australia at Wembley.
His single senior appearance means he remains eligible to switch allegiance under FIFA regulations, subject to the applicable conditions.
Ghana are reportedly keen to strengthen their squad with the addition of the Palace striker, who would join players such as Manchester City winger Antoine Semenyo and Coventry City midfielder Caleb Yirenkyi.
Nketiah joined Crystal Palace from Arsenal and has started all three of the club’s Premier League matches this season under new manager Pierre Sage.
His regular involvement comes after an injury-disrupted campaign last season.
Ghana are said to have maintained their interest in Nketiah for several years and have renewed efforts to persuade him to commit his international future to the Black Stars.
