The Ogun State Police Command has launched a full investigation into the deaths of a former Ogun State Television (OGTV) broadcaster, Mrs Kitan Oyesiku, and her security guard, whose bodies were discovered at her residence in Iyana Agodo Village, Owode-Egba, Ogun State.

The tragic incident was confirmed on Sunday by the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, who disclosed that law enforcement authorities were alerted after a concerned resident reported unusual activities around the property.

According to the police, officers who responded to the report found evidence suggesting that the residence may have been forcibly entered. Initial observations also revealed signs of disturbance within the premises.

During a search of the property, investigators discovered the body of the security guard at his duty post. The remains of Mrs Oyesiku, a retired broadcaster, were subsequently found inside the main building.

Police further disclosed that the deceased’s vehicle was missing from the compound, strengthening suspicions that the incident may have involved criminal activity.

“Detectives were immediately deployed to the scene, where preliminary findings indicated signs of forced entry and disruption within the residence,” Babaseyi said.

“The security guard was found dead at his post, while the body of Mrs Oyesiku was located inside the apartment. Additionally, her vehicle was found to be missing from the premises.”

The Commissioner of Police in Ogun State, Bode Ojajuni, has directed detectives to conduct a comprehensive investigation into the circumstances surrounding the deaths. Security operatives have also intensified intelligence-gathering efforts and surveillance operations in key locations to identify and apprehend those responsible.

Police authorities said efforts are ongoing to recover the missing vehicle and uncover the motive behind the incident.

The command expressed condolences to the families of the deceased, the management and staff of Ogun State Television, and members of the media community, describing the deaths as a painful loss.

Residents have been urged to remain calm and cooperate with investigators by providing any information that could assist in the ongoing probe.

According to reports, similar cases have been reported in different parts of the country, including the killing of ARISE News presenter Somtochukwu Maduagwu and a security guard during a robbery attack in Abuja in 2025.

Authorities have assured the public that all available resources are being deployed to ensure those behind the Ogun killings are brought to justice.
