Ford Motor Company is recalling 223,472 vehicles in the United States over concerns that faulty fuel tanks could leak or become detached while the vehicles are being driven.

The US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration announced the recall on Saturday, saying certain 2023–2027 Ford F-150 vehicles were affected.

According to the safety advisory, improperly secured or leaking fuel tanks could detach from vehicles, creating a road hazard and increasing the risk of crashes.

The agency also warned that fuel leaks could cause an engine to stall or increase the risk of fire.

Ford dealers will inspect the affected vehicles and replace fuel tank straps where necessary at no cost to vehicle owners.

The recall covers vehicles sold in the United States, with owners expected to receive further instructions from Ford regarding the inspection and repair process.
