Oden Ewa has emerged as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Cross River Central Senatorial District after clinching victory in the party’s primary election held on Sunday ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The primary results were announced by the Returning Officer, Barrister Eyo Nsa Ekpo, following the collation of votes at the Ikom Local Government Area Council Hall.

Ewa recorded a landslide victory with 32,426 votes, defeating his closest challenger, Barrister Mary Ekpere, who polled 991 votes, while Eteng Jones secured 726 votes.

Speaking shortly after the announcement of the results, Ewa expressed appreciation to party leaders, delegates, members and supporters for what he described as an overwhelming show of confidence in his candidacy.

The former Commissioner for Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs under Governor Bassey Otu said the outcome reflected years of commitment and contributions towards the growth and development of both the district and Cross River State.

He also commended Governor Otu for fostering what he described as a fair and peaceful political atmosphere, noting that the governor created equal opportunities for aspirants participating in the primary process.

Ewa further appreciated the governor for allowing him to serve in the state administration for nearly three years and for providing him with the platform to pursue his ambition as a first-time senatorial aspirant.

Describing the conduct of the exercise as peaceful and transparent, the APC candidate said the orderly process demonstrated the party’s commitment to democratic values and offered a positive outlook ahead of the 2027 elections.

While celebrating the victory, Ewa urged supporters not to become complacent, stressing that the larger task of securing victory in the general election remains ahead.

He also called on his fellow contestants and party members to close ranks and work together for the collective interest of the APC.

“My victory is a victory for everyone, a collective victory and not an individual one,” he said.

Ewa pledged to remain loyal to the party and assured members that he would justify the confidence reposed in him while promoting peace, unity and cohesion within the APC and across the state.
