Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has predicted that President Bola Tinubu will face an easier path to re-election in 2027 than he did during the 2023 presidential election.
Wike spoke on Monday during town hall meetings with the Rumueme and Apara kingdoms in Obio-Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State.
The former Rivers State governor reaffirmed his support for Tinubu’s bid for a second term, saying the President’s re-election had become a major focus of his political activities.

“Each day I sleep, I am thinking about the president’s re-election. When I am eating, I think about the president’s re-election. Everything I am doing now is about the president’s re-election,” Wike said.
He urged Rivers residents to set aside political sentiments and assess the Tinubu administration based on what he described as its development projects and appointments of Rivers indigenes to key positions in the Federal Government.
“Let us forget sentiment and vote for the person who has recognised the people of Rivers State with dividends of democracy and with several appointments,” he said.
Wike expressed confidence that Tinubu would secure significant support in Rivers State when Nigerians return to the polls in 2027.
“I know the re-election of Tinubu in 2027 will be easier than that of 2023. We should appreciate Tinubu and ensure he gets a massive number of votes. We can do it,” he said.
The FCT minister has repeatedly declared his support for Tinubu’s re-election despite his political background in the Peoples Democratic Party.

He has maintained that his support for the President does not prevent other political parties from fielding candidates in governorship, National Assembly and state assembly elections.
Wike’s latest comments represent his assessment of the political landscape ahead of the 2027 election, with opposition parties also intensifying preparations for the presidential contest.
