The Ilorin Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has arraigned a businessman, Kazeem Akinwunmi Bolaji, before the Kwara State High Court over allegations of employment fraud and unlawful retention of funds.

Bolaji, 45, was brought before Justice Mahmud Abdulgafar on an eleven-count charge linked to an alleged scheme involving false promises of employment placements in federal security agencies.

According to the EFCC, the defendant allegedly obtained money from several individuals after claiming he could secure jobs for them in the Nigeria Customs Service and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps.

The anti-graft agency accused him of collecting different sums from unsuspecting applicants under the pretence of facilitating recruitment into the agencies.

The charges also include allegations relating to the retention of proceeds believed to have been generated through unlawful activities.

The case was heard before the Kwara State High Court sitting in Ilorin, where proceedings commenced following the formal presentation of the charges against the defendant.
