The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, and the Nigeria Revenue Service, NRS, have renewed their commitment to strengthening inter-agency collaboration in tackling tax evasion, financial crimes and revenue leakages in Kano State.
The Acting Zonal Director of the EFCC Kano Directorate, ACE1 Friday S. Ebelo, stated this on Monday, August 10, 2026, during a courtesy visit to the Regional Administrator of the NRSD, Dr Ismail Abdullahi, at the Service’s Kano office.
Ebelo, who represented the EFCC Executive Chairman, Ola Olukoyede, said the partnership would focus particularly on intelligence sharing and joint enforcement efforts aimed at protecting government revenue.
He commended the NRS for recent developments in tax administration, describing them as significant, and warned that the EFCC would not tolerate tax evasion or financial practices capable of undermining the nation’s economy.
The EFCC official called for stronger cooperation between the agencies to ensure that tax defaulters and others involved in revenue-related offences are identified and brought to justice.
Responding, the NRS Regional Administrator, Dr Ismail Abdullahi, welcomed the initiative and stressed the importance of inter-agency cooperation in combating tax fraud and improving voluntary compliance.
Abdullahi said the NRS was prepared to deepen intelligence sharing and investigative collaboration with the EFCC in support of effective revenue collection.
He also explained that the change from the Federal Inland Revenue Service to the Nigeria Revenue Service reflected the agency’s broader role in Nigeria’s tax administration system.
