The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has arraigned one Muhammad Korimi Abdullahi before the Borno State High Court in Maiduguri over an alleged N186 million criminal breach of trust.

Abdullahi was arraigned on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, by the Maiduguri Zonal Directorate of the EFCC before Justice Maina Lawan on a six-count charge.

The EFCC alleged that the defendant dishonestly converted funds entrusted to him for safekeeping to his personal use.

One of the charges alleged that Abdullahi received N30 million through electronic transfer into his bank account on February 14, 2024, but subsequently converted the money for his personal use, contrary to the provisions of the Borno State Penal Code Law.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to all the charges.

Following his plea, prosecution counsel, N.T. Iko, asked the court to adjourn the matter for trial and remand the defendant in a correctional facility.

Justice Lawan subsequently adjourned the case until September 7, 2026, and ordered that Abdullahi be remanded at the Maiduguri Maximum Correctional Centre pending further proceedings.
