The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has dismissed more than 40 staff members over allegations of corruption and financial misconduct within the agency in the past three years, according to the commission’s chairman, Ola Olukoyede.

Olukoyede said more than five former employees of the commission are already facing prosecution, while additional case files are being prepared for possible legal action.

The EFCC chairman stated that the cases involving the affected personnel are being handled through the courts, allowing members of the public to monitor the proceedings.

The move is part of the commission’s internal efforts to strengthen accountability and maintain integrity among its workforce, according to Olukoyede.

The EFCC, established to combat economic and financial crimes in Nigeria, has in recent years faced calls for greater transparency and stronger internal oversight in the discharge of its responsibilities.
