The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested former Minister of Power, Saleh Mamman, following his recent conviction and sentencing by a Federal High Court in Abuja over allegations of financial misconduct linked to his tenure in office.
EFCC Chairman Ola Olukoyede confirmed on Tuesday that Mamman was apprehended at about 3:30 a.m.
According to available details, the former minister was arrested in Kaduna alongside two other individuals alleged to have been helping him evade authorities.
The anti-graft agency is also said to be investigating the residence where the arrest took place as part of ongoing inquiries.

Mamman served as Minister of Power between August 2019 and September 2021 under the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari. He was sworn into office on August 21, 2019, after being nominated by Buhari and subsequently confirmed by the Senate.
His tenure ended in September 2021 when he was removed from office and replaced by former Minister of State for Works and Housing, Abubakar Aliyu.
The former minister was recently convicted by the Federal High Court on charges related to fraud and money laundering involving more than ₦33.8 billion. He was sentenced to 75 years’ imprisonment for the offences.

The latest development marks another high-profile anti-corruption case involving former public office holders in Nigeria.
