The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has arraigned two men before the Federal High Court in Lagos over the alleged unlawful supply of access credentials to a bank’s database.

The defendants, Gideon Bakpa Aghogho and Oscar Ebere Chukwuebuka, were arraigned alongside one Scott, who is currently at large, on an eight-count charge before Justice F.N. Ogazi at the Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos.

The EFCC Lagos Zonal Directorate 1 brought the defendants to court on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, over alleged offences bordering on the unlawful disclosure and supply of bank access credentials.

The charges are said to contravene Sections 27 and 28(1)(b) of the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, Etc.) Act, 2015, as amended in 2024.

According to the prosecution, Aghogho and Chukwuebuka, together with Scott, allegedly conspired between July 24 and 26, 2026, in Lagos to unlawfully supply Aghogho’s access code to the FCMB system using a local administrative credential, thereby facilitating access to the bank’s Virtual Centre Platform.

Another count alleged that Aghogho, between April and May 2025, knowingly and without authority disclosed the bank’s server IP and domain credentials to facilitate access to FCMB’s database in exchange for 15,000 dollars.

Aghogho pleaded not guilty to the charges, while Chukwuebuka pleaded guilty when the charges were read to them.

Following Aghogho’s plea, prosecution counsel, Bilkisu Buhari, asked the court to fix a date for trial and ordered that the defendant be remanded in a correctional facility.

In respect of Chukwuebuka, the prosecution requested a review of the facts of the case following his guilty plea.

Justice Ogazi subsequently adjourned the matter until August 27, 2026, for review of the facts and further proceedings.

The court also ordered that the defendants be remanded to a correctional centre pending the next hearing.
