The Honourable Commissioner for Education, Rivers State – Dr. Peters Nwagor, has expressed satisfaction with the level of compliance demonstrated by both students and teachers following the resumption of academic activities for the 3rd term of the 2025/2026 school session.

Dr. Nwagor made this known on Monday during a monitoring exercise across selected schools in Port Harcourt, where he observed a full return to classrooms and active participation in academic activities.

He described the turnout as impressive, noting that schools visited recorded full compliance with resumption directives.

“Today, we have gone round some schools in Port Harcourt and witnessed full resumption in all the schools visited. We are highly impressed by the turnout of students and teachers,” the Commissioner said.

He further commended teachers for their prompt resumption and commitment to duty, urging them to remain dedicated to their role in shaping the future of learners.

According to him, educators remain central to nation-building through their responsibility of moulding young minds.

Dr. Nwagor also appealed to parents and guardians to ensure their children return promptly to school, stressing that academic activities have fully commenced.

In her remarks, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Dr. Mrs. Azibaolanari Uzoma-Nwogu, encouraged students to take their studies seriously and avoid behaviours capable of undermining their academic progress and future aspirations.

Students interviewed during the monitoring exercise expressed joy at reuniting with friends and teachers after the Easter break, describing the resumption as exciting and refreshing.

Schools visited during the exercise included Government Girls Secondary School, Rumueme; Comprehensive Secondary School, Mgbuoshimini; Model Secondary School, GRA; Graceland International School, Port Harcourt; Breton Montessori School; and Chokhmah International Academy.

The exercise was concluded with a call for sustained discipline, punctuality, and commitment from all stakeholders in the education sector.
