The Uyo Senatorial District Indigenes Association (USDIA), Lagos Chapter, has declared its support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and Akwa Ibom State Governor Umo Eno ahead of the 2027 general elections, citing what it described as their notable performance in governance.

The endorsement was made during the association’s general meeting held recently in Lagos, where members unanimously resolved to back the three political leaders for a second term in office.

Speaking at the gathering, the President General of USDIA Lagos, Chief Matthew Udoheyop, said the decision was influenced by what members consider impactful leadership at the federal and state levels.

According to him, President Tinubu has demonstrated commitment to economic stability and national security, while Senate President Godswill Akpabio has provided what he described as purposeful leadership in the National Assembly. He also commended Governor Umo Eno for implementing developmental policies under his “Arise Agenda.”

Udoheyop noted that Governor Eno’s administration has placed strong emphasis on rural development, infrastructure expansion, and economic inclusion, adding that visible progress has been recorded across key sectors in Akwa Ibom State.

He highlighted ongoing road projects, including the reported construction of over 1,000 kilometres of roads across the state as well as the development of major urban road networks such as the Uyo Village Road dual carriageway.

The association also praised what it described as the governor’s social intervention programmes, including housing support for civil servants, healthcare initiatives across local government areas, and welfare schemes targeted at the elderly.

According to USDIA, these interventions have contributed to improved living conditions and strengthened public confidence in governance.

The group further commended efforts in education, citing the construction of model primary schools across all local government areas and the continuation of bursary support for students.

It also lauded what it called strides in healthcare delivery, particularly the establishment of primary health centres in all 31 LGAs, as well as initiatives aimed at supporting vulnerable groups.

On security and political climate, USDIA said Governor Eno’s leadership has contributed to a more peaceful and inclusive political environment in the state, fostering unity across political divides.

The association further referenced infrastructural transformation projects such as the conversion of erosion-prone areas in Uyo into what is now known as Arise Park, describing it as an example of environmental renewal and urban development.

Concluding the meeting, Chief Udoheyop urged members of the association to mobilize support for the endorsed leaders ahead of the 2027 elections, expressing confidence in their continued performance.

“We are satisfied with their leadership and we are committed to supporting them fully in the coming elections,” he said.

The endorsement marks one of the early public declarations of political support ahead of the 2027 election cycle.
