The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has granted bail to the National President of Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore, Bello Bodejo, in the sum of ₦2 billion in his ongoing trial over alleged money laundering.
Delivering the ruling on Monday, Justice Inyang Ekwo admitted the defendant to bail with two sureties in like sum. The judge held that both sureties must be responsible persons, while one of them must own landed property within the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC).
Justice Ekwo further directed that one of the sureties must present evidence of tax clearance certificates for the years 2023, 2024 and 2025.
The court also ordered the Registrar to verify all documents and particulars submitted by the sureties before the bail conditions would be deemed satisfied.
As part of the bail conditions, the judge directed Bodejo to deposit all his travel documents with the court. The Registrar was further ordered to notify the Nigeria Immigration Service of the seizure of the defendant’s passport.
Justice Ekwo also barred Bodejo from travelling outside the country or beyond the court’s jurisdiction without prior approval.
The matter was adjourned to October 5, 6 and 7, 2026, for the continuation of the trial.
Bodejo was first arraigned on July 9, 2026, by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on a 12-count charge bordering on the alleged laundering of $ 2.33 million. He has pleaded not guilty to the charges, and the trial is expected to continue on the adjourned dates.
