CHILDREN’S DAY: AKPABIO URGES NIGERIAN CHILDREN TO SHUN DRUGS, CULTISM

President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, has urged Nigerian children to stay away from drugs, cultism and other social vices capable of destroying their future.

Akpabio advised in a statement issued on Wednesday to commemorate the 2026 Children’s Day celebration.

In the statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Hon. Eseme Eyiboh, the Senate President described children as a special gift from God who must be protected, nurtured and loved.

He said Children’s Day was an opportunity to celebrate the potential, dreams and future of Nigerian children while reaffirming the government’s responsibility toward their development.

“Children’s Day is about nurturing dreams, protecting innocence and building a brighter future for the next generation,” Akpabio stated.

The Senate President assured Nigerian children that the 10th Senate would continue to prioritise policies and programmes aimed at protecting their rights and improving their education, healthcare and safety.

He encouraged children to remain focused, work hard and believe in their dreams despite challenges.

“To every Nigerian child, I say: shun drugs and all vices that can derail your dreams. Dream big, work hard and never give up on your aspirations,” he said.

Akpabio also urged children to embrace their individuality and strive to make positive contributions to society, stressing that they hold the power to shape the future of the country.

He wished children across Nigeria a joyful and memorable celebration while reaffirming the National Assembly’s commitment to supporting their growth and development.
