The Federal Government has confirmed that the ongoing recruitment process into Nigeria’s paramilitary agencies, under the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire, and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB), has not been suspended or postponed.
The Ministry of Interior issued the clarification following the circulation of a purported statement claiming that the recruitment exercise had been deferred until after the 2027 general elections due to funding constraints.
The ministry dismissed the document as fake, unauthorised and fraudulent, stressing that no decision had been taken to halt or defer the ongoing recruitment process.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Dr Magdalene Ajani, stated that the purported statement dated August 11, 2026, was not issued by the Ministry of Interior, the office of the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, or the CDCFIB.
The ministry stated that the document was neither authorised nor signed by the Minister.
“No decision has been made to defer the recruitment exercise until after the 2027 general election. The exercise is ongoing,” the ministry said.
The Federal Government consequently urged all applicants participating in the CDCFIB recruitment process to disregard the viral postponement notice and continue to rely on official information concerning the exercise.
The ministry further advised applicants and members of the public to obtain recruitment updates only through the verified platforms of the Ministry of Interior and the CDCFIB.
Applicants were also directed to the official recruitment portal for authentic information regarding the ongoing recruitment exercise.
The clarification is expected to ease concerns among the large number of Nigerians who have applied for positions across the country’s paramilitary services and are awaiting further stages of the recruitment process.
The government’s position means that, for now, the CDCFIB recruitment process remains active and there has been no official directive to suspend or postpone it until after the 2027 general elections.
