President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration’s determination to revive Nigeria’s ailing refineries, particularly the Warri and Port Harcourt refineries.
The President committed to this on Thursday when he received the leadership of the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers, NUPENG, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
The NUPENG delegation was led by its Executive President, Comrade Salimon Akanni Oladiti.
President Tinubu assured the union that efforts to restore the refineries to full operation would be sustained, stressing the importance of domestic refining to the country’s petroleum industry.
Earlier, Oladiti commended the Federal Government’s partnership with Chinese companies towards the rehabilitation of the Warri and Port Harcourt refineries.
He, however, appealed to the government to also rehabilitate the facilities of the Nigerian Pipelines and Storage Company, NPSC, across the country, which he said had deteriorated.
The NUPENG leadership also commended the Federal Government’s ongoing rehabilitation of federal highways, describing improved road infrastructure as critical to the movement of petroleum products and the overall growth of the oil and gas sector.
