BRICS leaders have unanimously adopted a joint declaration expressing “deep concern” over the ongoing war in the Middle East and calling on all parties to exercise maximum restraint.
The declaration marks a significant diplomatic agreement among the expanded BRICS grouping, which has faced differences over the Middle East conflict.
The leaders called for efforts to prevent further escalation and urged restraint amid continuing tensions in the region.
The agreement followed consultations aimed at bridging differences among member states, particularly over the positions of Iran and the United Arab Emirates.
The BRICS declaration comes as the group seeks to strengthen its role in global diplomacy and increase the influence of developing countries in international decision-making.
The grouping comprises Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Egypt, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Iran and the United Arab Emirates.
