Nigerian comedian and actor Julius Agwu has disclosed that he experienced loss of sexual function following brain surgery he underwent in the United States in 2015.

Agwu disclosed this during an appearance on the Beer Parlour Talk Show, where he reflected on his health challenges and their impact on his body, career and personal life.

The veteran entertainer underwent brain surgery in 2015 after doctors reportedly discovered tumours in his brain.

During the programme, Agwu was asked whether his health condition or treatment had affected other aspects of his physical wellbeing, including his sexual function.

Responding in Pidgin English, the comedian said he had experienced difficulties with sexual function after the surgery.

Other participants on the programme discussed possible neurological explanations for his experience. However, no medical diagnosis establishing the precise cause of the problem was presented during the discussion.

Agwu also reflected on his contribution to the Nigerian entertainment industry, particularly his efforts to combine music and comedy.

“Music comedy na me form am o, that is to tell you how my brain dey work,” he said.

The conversation became emotional as the comedian reflected on his career and relationships during his health struggles.

Agwu said several people he regarded as friends stopped communicating with him during the difficult period.

“My friends deserted me. They stopped talking to me, many of them. It is well,” he said.

Agwu has previously spoken publicly about his health challenges and recovery following the surgery, which interrupted his entertainment career.

His latest disclosure offers further insight into the personal difficulties he says accompanied the health crisis and his subsequent recovery.
