The Bauchi State chapter of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) has alleged that some of its members played prominent roles in its defeat during last Saturday’s by-election for the Disina State Constituency, which was won by the candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The APM candidate lost the by-election to the APC by a very slim margin of votes, a development that worried the party’s leadership.
Consequently, the APM State Chairman, Hon. Auwal Isah Maitakalmin Roba, has reacted to the conduct of the by-elections in the Disina Constituency in Shira Local Government Area and the Sakuwa Constituency in Zaki Local Government Area.
The chairman stated that although every victory comes from Almighty Allah, no individual can achieve anything without the will and permission of Allah.
He further announced that the APM Bauchi State leadership had constituted a seven-member investigative committee to thoroughly examine the circumstances surrounding the conduct of the by-election in the Disina Constituency of Shira Local Government Area, particularly the events that led to the loss of the State House of Assembly seat.
The chairman made it clear that anyone found to have participated in any action capable of undermining the interests of the APM or engaging in anti-party activities would face disciplinary action in accordance with the rules and regulations of the party.
He emphasised that no one is above the party, regardless of position or status, declaring that if any member of the party is found guilty of anti-party activities after a proper investigation, the APM will take appropriate disciplinary measures.
The seven-member committee has been given one week to investigate the matter, establish the facts surrounding what happened, and submit its report to the party leadership.
Auwal Isah Maitakalmin Roba also expressed his appreciation to all APM members at every level for their contributions, commitment, sacrifice and support for the party during the recently conducted by-elections.
He acknowledged the efforts of party leaders, stakeholders, candidates, agents, supporters and members across the affected constituencies for standing together and working for the progress of the APM.
The APM chairman prayed that Almighty Allah would reward the State Governor, Sen. Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, with abundant blessings, strengthen the party and grant the APM success in the forthcoming 2027 general elections.
