British American Tobacco Nigeria has appointed Ruth Owojaiye as Director of Corporate and Regulatory Affairs in a move aimed at strengthening the company’s governance, regulatory engagement, and sustainability strategy.

The company, in a statement, said Owojaiye would oversee government relations, public policy, stakeholder engagement, sustainability initiatives, and corporate communications in her new position.

The Managing Director of BAT Nigeria, Yarub Al-Bahrani, described the appointment as a reflection of the company’s commitment to reinforcing leadership in corporate governance and regulatory affairs.

He noted that Owojaiye’s extensive experience and strategic understanding of policy and regulatory matters position her to effectively lead the company’s Corporate and Regulatory Affairs department at a critical period for the business.

Reacting to her appointment, Owojaiye expressed readiness to work closely with stakeholders across sectors to promote constructive dialogue, balanced regulation, and sustainable business growth.

BAT Nigeria said Owojaiye brings over two decades of experience in manufacturing, taxation, legal compliance, public policy, and external affairs, having previously held senior roles at Nigerian Breweries Plc and KPMG Nigeria.

The company added that the new director remains committed to mentoring young professionals and contributing to long-term value creation within and outside the organisation.
