Barcelona have completed the permanent signing of Arsenal forward Gabriel Jesus in a deal reported to be worth £8.6 million (€10 million).
The Brazilian striker completed his medical on Monday before finalising his move to the reigning Spanish La Liga champions, ending his four-year spell with Arsenal.
Jesus joined Arsenal from Manchester City in 2022 and made 123 appearances for the Gunners, scoring 32 goals and providing 22 assists. However, his role at the club was reduced in recent seasons due to injury setbacks and increased competition from other forwards, including Kai Havertz and Viktor Gyokeres.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta had earlier confirmed that Jesus was no longer training with the first team, describing the situation as related to “personal situations”.
Barcelona moved quickly to secure the 29-year-old after interest from other clubs, including Napoli. The Catalan side have also been active in the transfer market, adding Premier League players such as Anthony Gordon from Newcastle United and Rodri from Manchester City.
The move comes as Arsenal continue to reshape their squad during the transfer window. The north London club have also completed the sale of midfielder Fabio Vieira to Hamburger SV, while teenage forward Ethan Nwaneri is reportedly close to joining Borussia Dortmund on loan.
Barcelona remain interested in Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez, although Atletico have maintained that they do not intend to negotiate with their La Liga rivals. Arsenal have also been monitoring Alvarez as they look to strengthen their attacking options.
