The Kano State Police Command commenced an investigation after recovering a cine-camera drone during a clearance operation in Bebeji Local Government Area of the state.
RismadarVoice gathered that the drone, marked GT 50, was discovered lying on the ground at Hawan Tarau Village on September 17, 2026, at about 2pm.
Police Public Relations Officer, Commissioner of Police (CSP), Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, disclosed that operatives recovered the device during the operation conducted as part of efforts to tackle criminal activities across the state.
The command said investigators were working to determine how the drone got to the area and identify the person or persons who owned or operated it.
“Efforts were ongoing to establish the source and owner of the drone,” Kiyawa said.
The recovery occurred alongside separate police operations that resulted in the arrest of a suspected kidnapper identified as 35-year-old Habibu Bello from Kunkumi Town in Makarfi Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
Bello was arrested on September 14 by operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Squad following what the command described as credible intelligence.
Police alleged that he belonged to a syndicate involved in kidnapping, armed robbery and cattle rustling across Kano, Katsina and Kaduna states.
The investigation reportedly led to the arrest of another suspected member of the group, identified as Mudam from Kwanar Dangora.
The Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, commended the officers involved and said the command would continue collaborating with neighbouring police commands to prevent criminal groups from exploiting state borders.
Bakori also urged residents to report suspicious movements to the nearest police station or through the command’s emergency lines.
