Pakistan need 212 runs to defeat India and claim the men’s cricket gold medal at the 2026 Asian Games after India posted 211 for six in their allotted 20 overs.

India captain Shreyas Iyer won the toss and elected to bat first in Saturday’s final at Korogi Sports Park in Nisshin.

Abhishek Sharma led India’s batting effort with 61 runs, while Tilak Varma struck an unbeaten 51 to help the defending champions cross the 200-run mark.

Shivam Dube also contributed a late 27 as India accelerated in the closing overs to finish on 211 for six.

Pakistan’s bowlers attempted to contain India’s scoring, with Arafat Minhas among the wickets as the side sought to prevent the defending champions from setting an even bigger target.

Pakistan, captained by Sahibzada Farhan, must now score 212 to secure their first men’s cricket gold medal at the Asian Games.

India entered the final as defending champions after winning gold at the 2023 Asian Games in Hangzhou, China.

Pakistan previously won bronze in the men’s cricket competition at the 2010 Asian Games but are seeking their first gold medal in the event.

The final marks the first Asian Games men’s cricket gold-medal contest between India and Pakistan.
