A member of the House of Representatives representing Ikwerre/Emohua Federal Constituency of Rivers State, Chidi Wihioka, has alleged that former Minister of Transportation and ADC vice-presidential candidate, Rotimi Amaechi, is not an indigene of Ikwerre Local Government Area.
Wihioka made the claim in a video circulating on social media, where he said he possessed a document which, according to him, supports his position.
The lawmaker threatened to make the document public if Amaechi made any derogatory comments against him.
Wihioka said Amaechi was previously regarded as a son of Ikwerre but suggested that the relationship had changed.
“He cannot say he is a son of Ikwerre land because there is a document I have and I will bring it out if he says he is a son of Ikwerre land,” Wihioka said.
He explained that the document was connected to the alleged balkanisation of Ikwerre during the process that led to the creation of Bayelsa State.
According to him, he would release the document to the people of Ikwerre if Amaechi continued to speak against him.
The allegation comes amid ongoing political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections, with Amaechi emerging as the African Democratic Congress’ vice-presidential candidate.
