A viral video circulating online appears to show Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia’s Senior Special Assistant on Youth Mobilisation, Terver Gbenda, distributing ₦2,000 cash and 10kg bags of rice to beneficiaries during an event in Otukpo.
In the footage, Gbenda is seen handing cash and food items to people gathered at the location.
He is also heard making remarks in support of Governor Alia and apparently telling those present to chase away anyone who comes to the area to campaign against the governor.
The precise context of the remark has not been independently established beyond the circulating footage.
There is also no independently verified evidence that receiving the cash or rice was conditional on supporting Alia or opposing other political figures.
