President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, has expressed confidence that Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, will secure a second term in office at the governorship election scheduled for Saturday.
Akpabio made the declaration on Tuesday during the grand finale of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship campaign in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital.
The campaign rally attracted top APC leaders, including Vice President Kashim Shettima, members of the party’s National Working Committee led by the National Chairman, several APC governors, and federal lawmakers from across the country.
Speaking as co-chairman of the APC National Campaign Council for the election, Akpabio assured Governor Oyebanji of his continued support until victory is achieved at the polls.

“I will support you. I will work with you until victory is delivered on the 20th of June, 2026,” the Senate President said.
Akpabio urged residents of Ekiti State to maintain the state’s tradition of peace and resist any attempt to foment violence during the election. He also called on eligible voters to turn out in large numbers and cast their ballots.
“We want to see the quantum of your votes so that we will know what you are going to give to Asiwaju in 2027,” he said.
The Senate President attributed the widespread support for Governor Oyebanji to his performance in office, humility, and commitment to inclusive governance.
According to him, the governor’s ability to unite political stakeholders across party lines, including former governors of the state, demonstrated his leadership qualities and acceptability among the people.
“We have come to support a performing colleague, a humble man and a leader who believes in gender sensitivity. The fact that former governors, despite political differences, are united in support of him speaks volumes about his leadership,” Akpabio stated.
In his address, Governor Oyebanji said his administration had fulfilled many of the promises made to the people during the last election and pledged to deliver more developmental projects if re-elected.

“Close to four years ago, we entered into a contract to serve you. With the help of God and the support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, we have served you well. The achievements are visible, tangible, and impactful. We are ready to do more,” the governor said.
The Ekiti governorship election is scheduled to hold on Saturday, with Governor Oyebanji seeking another four-year mandate under the APC platform.
