Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, escaped unhurt on Wednesday after a podium collapsed during a political rally in Ijebu-Jesa, Osun State.
The incident occurred during the inauguration of Imole canvassers for the Obokun/Oriade Federal Constituency, causing temporary disruption to the event.
A video from the scene showed Governor Adeleke and several dignitaries seated on the platform when it suddenly gave way.
Among those on the podium were Deputy Governor Kola Adewusi, Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly Adewale Egbedun, and Imole Campaign Council spokesperson Pelumi Olajengbesi.

The collapse occurred shortly after a musical performance while the event anchor was preparing to introduce the next item on the programme.
A source at the rally said security personnel quickly evacuated those affected from the collapsed structure, after which the programme resumed.
According to the source, the large crowd at the venue may have contributed to the incident.
“The governor and some members of his cabinet were seated in that part of the podium that collapsed. No casualty. The event resumed, and the governor addressed the gathering after the incident,” the source said.
Reacting to the development, the Deputy Spokesperson to the Governor, Oladele Bamiji, dismissed concerns that the incident was serious.
He stated that no injuries or fatalities were recorded and noted that the governor continued with his official engagements after leaving the venue.
“The event thereafter went on smoothly with the governor and members of his cabinet. No injuries. Had there been any fatal accident, the event would not have continued,” Bamiji said.

He added that Governor Adeleke later proceeded to another event in Odo-Otin Local Government Area following the rally.
