The Adamawa State Judicial Service Commission has warned judicial officers and court staff against demanding or accepting money as a condition for granting bail.
In a circular dated August 24, 2026, the Commission stated that bail is entirely free of charge, stressing that no Judge, Magistrate, judicial staff or law enforcement officer is authorised to impose or collect monetary conditions for bail.
The Commission warned that any officer found violating the directive will face immediate suspension and disciplinary proceedings.
It called on judicial officers, court staff and members of the public to comply strictly with the directive, as part of efforts to uphold the integrity of the judiciary and ensure access to justice without financial barriers.
Meanwhile, the Commission has approved the promotion of 458 judicial and administrative personnel across various judicial divisions in the state.
The promotions, approved at the Commission’s 187th meeting chaired by the Chief Judge and Chairman, Justice Hafsat Abdulrahman, include 42 Magistrates, 26 Administrative and Executive Officers and Confidential Secretaries, and 59 Registrars.
In the Area Court Division, 114 Judges and Members, 26 Administrative and Executive Officers, and 146 Registrars were promoted.
Also promoted were 22 personnel in the Sharia Court of Appeal and 23 in the Customary Court of Appeal.
