The Transmission Company of Nigeria has announced a planned 20-minute power interruption affecting Suleja, parts of Abuja and surrounding communities on Saturday as it carries out preventive maintenance on its transmission infrastructure.
TCN said the maintenance would be carried out on the Gwarinpa–Suleja 132/33kV Line 2 bay switchgear and associated equipment between 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. on September 26.
According to the company, customers of the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company in Suleja Township, FCT College of Education, Field Base, Zuba, Sabon Wuse and surrounding areas will experience the temporary interruption.
TCN explained that the 20-minute outage would enable engineers to transfer load from the Gwarinpa–Suleja Line 2 to the Kubwa–Suleja Line 1 before maintenance begins.
“Consequently, the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) will experience a 20-minute interruption of power supply only to customers in Suleja Township, FCT College of Education, Field Base, Zuba, Sabon Wuse and environs,” TCN said.
The company said transferring the load would allow the maintenance work to proceed without subjecting customers to a prolonged outage.
“The interruption is to enable the transfer of load from Gwarinpa–Suleja Line 2 to Kubwa–Suleja Line 1 to facilitate the maintenance exercise without a prolonged outage,” it added.
TCN apologised to affected consumers for the inconvenience and said the exercise was part of its annual preventive maintenance programme aimed at maintaining the reliability of the transmission network.
