The All Progressives Congress in Abia State has dismissed reports alleging that the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Okezie Kalu, endorsed Governor Alex Otti for a second term in office.
In a statement issued on Friday, the party’s Publicity Secretary, Uche Aguoru, described the reports as “misleading, malicious and deceptive propaganda” allegedly orchestrated by the governor’s media team to misinform the public.
According to the statement, the APC said claims that Kalu had either publicly or privately endorsed Otti ahead of the 2027 governorship election were entirely false and should be disregarded by residents of the state.
The party maintained that the Deputy Speaker remains a loyal and committed member of the APC, describing him as the undisputed leader of the party in Abia State.
The statement further noted that Kalu’s focus remains on strengthening the APC ahead of the next general elections and ensuring the party secures victory across elective positions in the state.
“Rt. Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu has remained resolute and fully committed to the mission of ensuring that the All Progressives Congress wins all elective positions in Abia State and takes over Government House, Umuahia, come May 29, 2027,” the statement said.
The APC also accused the current Labour Party administration in the state of depending on propaganda and misinformation while insisting that its determination to unseat the government remains unchanged.
The party argued that many residents were dissatisfied with the administration’s handling of key sectors of governance and called on Abians to remain united in support of the APC ahead of the 2027 elections.
“We urge Abians to remain steadfast, united, and committed in their support for the APC as the party continues in its quest to offer a credible alternative and a better future for the people of Abia State,” the statement added.
