IGP DEPLOYS CP OJAPINWA AS NEW COMMISSIONER OF POLICE, PSFU LAGOS

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has deployed Commissioner of Police Kayode Ojapinwa as the new Commissioner of Police of the Police Special Fraud Unit (PSFU), Ikoyi, Lagos.

CP Ojapinwa formally assumed duty on Monday, becoming the 33rd Commissioner of Police to head the Unit, following the retirement of CP Rose Chollom Dung.

Upon resumption, the new PSFU boss inspected a guard of honour and was received by members of the management team, officers and personnel of the Unit, as well as key stakeholders.

Ojapinwa, who hails from Ogun Waterside Local Government Area of Ogun State, holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from the University of Ibadan. He was enlisted into the Nigeria Police Force on May 18, 1992, as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police.

He brings to the assignment decades of policing experience spanning investigation, operations, and administration, having undergone several professional courses, including the Advanced Detective Course and Counter Terrorism and Policing Unit (CPTU) training.

The new PSFU Commissioner has held several strategic positions in the Force, including Unit Commander, Mopol 18 Squadron, Owerri; Divisional Police Officer, Mushin, Alakara Itire and Trade Fair Divisions in Lagos State; Area Commander, Gboko in Benue State; Commander, 58 Squadron Police Mobile Force, Lafia; Deputy Commissioner of Police, Counter Terrorism Unit, Force Headquarters Abuja; and Deputy Commissioner of Police, Criminal Investigation Department (CID), FCT Police Command, Abuja. Until his latest posting, he served as Commissioner of Police, Special Protection Unit (SPU) at the Force Headquarters, Abuja.

In his address to officers and men of the Unit, CP Ojapinwa charged them to maintain high standard professionalism, discipline, and intelligence-led policing. He expressed appreciation to the Inspector-General of Police for the opportunity to serve and assured that fraud-related offences would be tackled with diligence and fairness.
