AIYEDATIWA SAYS NO ANOINTED CANDIDATES FOR 2027, CALLS FOR PARTY UNITY IN ONDO APC

Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has declared that he has not endorsed or promised party tickets to any aspirant ahead of the 2027 general elections, urging members of the All Progressives Congress to avoid actions that could create division within the party.

The Governor made the clarification while addressing party leaders and members at the APC stakeholders meeting held in Akure, the state capital.

Although Ondo State
bnwill not conduct a governorship election in 2027, political activities have intensified within the party, with several members already indicating interest in contesting for state and national legislative seats.

Governor Aiyedatiwa said it became necessary to address growing rumours and assumptions in the political space, stressing that no individual has been given preferential treatment or guaranteed any ticket.

He said he had not promised anyone tickets for the State Assembly or National Assembly and had not indicated that any incumbent would be denied the opportunity to seek re election, adding that party processes would be guided by fairness and internal democracy.

The Governor cautioned party members against spreading falsehoods capable of weakening unity, noting that cohesion remains critical for sustaining the party’s strength in the state.

Speaking on the ongoing nationwide APC electronic registration exercise, Governor Aiyedatiwa described it as vital to the future growth of the party, urging leaders at ward and local government levels to mobilize members ahead of the registration deadline.

He disclosed that Ondo State had recorded over one hundred and twenty eight thousand registered members as at the time of the meeting, ranking among the top states in the South West zone, while expressing optimism that the figure would increase with sustained mobilization.

The APC National Vice Chairman South West, Isaac Kekemeke, commended the developmental strides in Akure, describing the level of urban renewal as visible and encouraging. He also praised the Governor for promoting unity among different political blocs within the party.

He said Ondo State remained united under the leadership of Governor Aiyedatiwa, adding that peace and cooperation were essential for electoral success.

Earlier, the State Chairman of the APC, Ade Adetimehin, described the party as the most dominant political platform in the country, noting that Ondo State hosts several influential leaders within the party structure.

He called on members to remain tolerant and supportive of one another, stressing that unity would strengthen the party ahead of future elections.

The meeting ended with renewed commitments from party leaders to sustain harmony and deepen grassroots participation across the state.
