US President, Donald Trump is set to officially launch his “Board of Peace” (BoP) at a signing ceremony in Davos, Switzerland, marking a new international initiative with a $1 billion membership fee. Originally created to oversee Gaza’s rebuilding following recent conflicts, the board’s mandate now appears to extend beyond the Palestinian territory.
The BoP, chaired by Trump, has already secured participation from multiple countries, including Argentina, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Turkey, and the UAE, while several European nations have declined the invitation. Dozens of other countries have yet to respond.
Trump’s initiative comes amid ongoing tensions in Gaza and the West Bank. Since the ceasefire in October 2025, more than 480 Palestinians, including over 169 children, have reportedly been killed, and Israeli raids continue across occupied territories.
Meanwhile, international diplomacy is also active. Russian President, Vladimir Putin is scheduled to meet Palestinian President, Mahmoud Abbas in Moscow to discuss Gaza, regional security, economic and cultural cooperation.
The Board of Peace represents Trump’s latest effort to assert US leadership in Middle East conflict resolution, with critics questioning both its funding model and its potential influence on ongoing diplomatic negotiations.
