Israeli forces have carried out air attacks on four crossing points along the Syria Lebanon border and several towns in southern Lebanon, as tensions continue despite a ceasefire agreement reached in late 2024.

The Israeli military said the border routes were being used to move weapons and claimed it also killed a key figure involved in arms smuggling in the Sidon area. Israel says its operations are aimed at weakening Hezbollah’s supply networks.

Lebanese authorities, however, described the strikes as attacks on civilian communities.
President Joseph Aoun condemned what he called a policy of systematic session, warning that repeated air raids on inhabited areas amount to a dangerous escalation and a violation of the ceasefire commitments.

The Ministry of Health said at least two people were killed in separate vehicle strikes in the Zahrani and Bazuriyeh areas, while nearly 20 others were wounded in air attacks on the town of Qanarit. Emergency services were deployed to multiple locations following the raids.

Local media reported that warplanes struck buildings in several southern towns, including Kfour, Jarjouh, al Kharayeb and al Ansar, after earlier warnings from the Israeli army that it would target locations inside the country.

The Lebanese army also issued a statement criticizing the attacks, saying civilian homes and buildings were hit in violation of national sovereignty and the ceasefire agreement. Military officials added that continued air raids are making it harder to carry out security measures that were part of the truce arrangement.

Since the ceasefire was signed in November 2024, hundreds of people have reportedly been killed in Lebanon during ongoing Israeli strikes, according to international media tallies. Hezbollah has rejected calls to disarm, arguing that continued attacks justify maintaining its military capacity.

With diplomatic efforts stalled and air raids continuing, observers warn that the fragile ceasefire remains under serious threat, raising fears of a wider return to open conflict in the border region.
