President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday December 10, in Abuja reiterated that the directive to redeploy police officers assigned to VIPs, VVIPs, and ministers is non negotiable, urging all ministers to comply immediately.

Speaking at the opening of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting at the State House Council Chambers, the President warned against any act of non compliance, adding that If anyone has challenges because of the nature of their assignments, they should contact the IGP and get clearance.

President Tinubu directed the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, the Minister of Police Affairs, Sen Ibrahim Gaidam, and the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egebtokun, to ensure the order is implemented.

He emphasized that the primary duty of the police is to protect lives and property of citizens, especially the most vulnerable, not to safeguard a selected group of VIPs.

Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has been tasked with replacing withdrawn police personnel with the National Security and Civil Defence Corps, who are trained and armed for VIP protection.

“The police will be mobilized appropriately to tackle the country’s security challenges,” President Tinubu said, adding that the entire security structure would be reviewed to better protect citizens and communities, especially the most vulnerable.

He urged ministers to liaise with the Inspector General of Police for clearance on special assignments that require police protection. “NSA, take this very seriously,” he stated.

On agricultural reforms, the President directed the Minister of Livestock, Idi Muktar Maiha, to begin mobilizing ranching initiatives, with a focus on areas facing conflicts, between herders and farmers.
