Kebbi State Government has approved a #10billion temporary loan to support intending Hajj pilgrims from the state who have not yet completed their payments for the 2025 pilgrimage.
This was disclosed in a statement on Wednesday, December, 2025 by the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Nasir Idris, Ahmed Idris, who said the loan was secured at the request of the Kebbi State Pilgrims Welfare Agency to prevent the state from losing its allotted Hajj slots.
According to the statement, the intervention is fully recoverable and will be repaid once pilgrims complete their outstanding balances.
“This was a proactive, people-centred decision to safeguard the opportunity for our citizens to perform Hajj,” Idris said, adding that the loan should not be mistaken for a budgetary allocation, rather a temporary arrangement.

The state government also confirmed that the deadline for final Hajj payments has been extended to December 16, giving intending pilgrims additional time to meet financial requirements.
Idris stressed that the Governor’s intervention was aimed solely at protecting citizens’ welfare.
“Without this intervention, many intending pilgrims could have lost their chances to undertake Hajj this year,” he noted.
Governor Nasir Idris’ administration reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and effective service delivery, assuring that key sectors; such as education, health, and water resources, continue to receive strong budgetary allocation.
