Nollywood actress and producer Yvonne Jegede has sparked a nationwide conversation after breaking down in tears while lamenting the escalating insecurity in Nigeria. In an emotional video shared on her Instagram page, the actress expressed fear, frustration and heartbreak over the persistent killings and kidnappings happening across the country.

A visibly shaken Jegede said she can no longer pretend everything is normal when innocent Nigerians are losing their lives daily. According to her, the silence and perceived nonchalance from political leaders and security agencies have become unbearable.

“My heart is shattered… We are all we have left, so we need to stand up for each other,” she cried, struggling to compose herself.

She questioned the conscience of those in charge of protecting citizens, asking pointedly: “If they finish killing us, who then are you going to govern?”

Jegede revealed that she now stays awake through the night reading reports of violence from different parts of the country. She said the constant grief and fear felt by Nigerians must not be ignored any longer.

Her emotional plea has triggered widespread reactions across social media, with many Nigerians saying her message reflects the reality they face daily. Several praised her courage for speaking openly at a time when many are too afraid to talk.

Yvonne’s cry, though deeply personal, mirrors the pain of millions who feel abandoned as insecurity continues to threaten communities nationwide. Her message reinforces the urgent need for stronger action, accountability and a renewed commitment to protecting lives.

As Nigerians call for lasting solutions, her plea stands as a stark reminder that leadership is meaningless in the absence of citizens to lead.
