The presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore, has announced plans to hold a protest in Abuja on Tuesday, October 27, calling for the departure of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
Sowore made the announcement on Monday while addressing supporters at the Federal High Court in Abuja, following proceedings in his ongoing case involving the Department of State Services (DSS).
The activist urged residents of the Federal Capital Territory to participate in the demonstration, which he described as the beginning of a broader campaign against the Federal Government.

Speaking to supporters, Sowore said the protest would move beyond the court premises into other parts of Abuja.
He encouraged participants to mobilise friends, relatives and other residents for the planned demonstration.
The AAC presidential candidate also predicted that Nigeria was approaching a period of major political change, describing the planned mobilisation as a revolution.
He referred to political developments in France, Spain and other countries while arguing that Nigerians should intensify their demands for change.
However, his claims about revolutionary movements in those countries were not accompanied by specific evidence or details.
The announcement comes amid Sowore’s ongoing legal dispute with the DSS over social media statements he made about President Tinubu in August 2025.
The security agency instituted proceedings against him over posts in which he described the President as a criminal and accused his administration of misrepresenting the level of corruption in Nigeria.
Sowore has challenged the prosecution, maintaining that his statements fall within his right to political expression.
The Federal High Court has continued hearing the case, including arguments concerning the testimony of senior DSS officials.
On October 19, the court rejected Sowore’s application seeking to compel the DSS Director-General to appear personally as a defence witness.

The planned demonstration follows an earlier protest organised by Sowore and his supporters in Abuja on October 6, during which participants demanded Tinubu’s resignation.
Sowore has remained a prominent critic of the administration, frequently challenging its economic policies, governance record and handling of civil liberties.
His latest announcement signals plans to continue public demonstrations alongside his political activities ahead of the 2027 general election.
As of Monday, the proposed October 27 rally had not taken place, and the number of people expected to participate remained unclear.
There was also no independently confirmed announcement from security authorities concerning arrangements for the demonstration.
