Cristiano Ronaldo has taken another step towards the historic 1,000-goal milestone after scoring in Al-Nassr’s 3–1 victory over Al-Faisaly in the Saudi Pro League on Friday.
The Portuguese international netted in the 49th minute, taking his reported senior career tally to 982 goals and leaving him 18 short of the landmark figure.
Al-Nassr made a strong start to the encounter, opening the scoring in the fourth minute through Abdullah Al-Hamdan, who converted an opportunity created by Senegalese forward Sadio Mané.

Ronaldo doubled the visitors’ advantage shortly after the restart, connecting with a delivery from compatriot João Félix to send a header towards goal.
The ball appeared to take a deflection off defender Andrei Girotto before entering the net, prompting questions about whether the strike should be credited to Ronaldo.
However, the goal was officially awarded to the former Real Madrid and Manchester United forward.
Ronaldo later had another effort ruled out following a video assistant referee review, denying him the opportunity to add a second goal to his tally.
Al-Faisaly reduced the deficit in the 66th minute when Theo Bongonda found the net, briefly raising hopes of a comeback.
However, Brazilian winger Ângelo Gabriel restored Al-Nassr’s two-goal advantage in the 79th minute, sealing the victory.
The result took Al-Nassr to 25 points in the Saudi Pro League standings, keeping the club firmly involved in the contest for the leading positions.

For Ronaldo, the latest strike marked another achievement in a career spanning more than two decades across club and international football.
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner had previously scored his 981st goal during Al-Nassr’s AFC Champions League Elite victory over Neftchi Fergana earlier in October.
His latest goal also added Al-Faisaly to the list of Saudi Pro League opponents against whom he has scored.
Ronaldo continues to pursue the unprecedented milestone of 1,000 officially recognised senior career goals, having already established himself as one of football’s most prolific goalscorers.
Al-Nassr will now turn their attention to Monday’s AFC Champions League Elite fixture against Al-Wasl, as the club continues its domestic and continental campaigns.
