The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has dismissed allegations that the register of voters was not displayed at some registration centres in Alimosho and Shomolu Local Government Areas of Lagos State.
The commission maintained that the exercise was conducted across all 245 Registration Areas, also known as wards, in the state, including those in the two affected local government areas.
In a statement issued on Thursday, INEC’s Head of Voter Education and Publicity in Lagos State, Esther Emeh, described the allegation as inaccurate and urged residents to disregard it.

According to Emeh, the commission carried out the display exercise in every Registration Area in Alimosho and Shomolu, contrary to claims that some centres were excluded.
She said the commission remained committed to ensuring that eligible voters had access to relevant electoral information and opportunities to verify their registration details.
INEC also urged members of the public to obtain information about electoral activities through its official communication channels rather than relying on unverified reports.
The commission called on journalists and media organisations to exercise greater diligence when reporting electoral matters, stressing the importance of checking information with relevant authorities before publication.

It maintained that accurate reporting was essential to protecting public confidence in the electoral process, particularly as preparations for the 2027 general elections continue.
INEC reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, credible elections and the timely provision of electoral information to Nigerians.
The commission’s statement represents its official response to the allegations. Independent evidence establishing whether the register was displayed at every location was not provided in the statement.
