A 40-foot truck reportedly lost control and crashed into two passenger buses at the Berger Pedestrian Bridge along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on Tuesday, leaving an unspecified number of people injured and causing severe traffic congestion.
The accident occurred on the section of the expressway heading towards Mowe, with traffic reportedly stretching as far back as the Otedola area.
The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) confirmed the incident in a statement published on its official X account, disclosing that casualties had been evacuated to an emergency medical facility for treatment.

According to the agency, the truck reportedly lost control before colliding with two buses carrying passengers.
LASTMA said officers of the Nigeria Police Force were deployed to the accident scene, while traffic management personnel worked to control vehicle movement and prevent further disruption along the busy highway.
The agency also confirmed that evacuation and recovery operations were underway, with further information expected as emergency responders continued their work.
Although casualties were reported, the authorities had not disclosed the number of people injured or confirmed any fatalities at the time of the initial announcement.

The circumstances that caused the truck driver to lose control had also not been established.
The incident disrupted traffic along one of the major routes connecting Lagos with Ogun State and other parts of southwestern Nigeria.
LASTMA assured motorists that its personnel were managing the traffic situation while arrangements continued for the removal of the affected vehicles.
Further updates are expected from the relevant authorities regarding the condition of the victims, the extent of damage and the outcome of recovery operations.
