A serving member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has reportedly died, while several others sustained injuries, following a multiple-vehicle accident involving an articulated truck in Ibadan, Oyo State.
The incident occurred near Agodi Gardens after the truck was said to have been involved in earlier collisions around the Sango area of the city.
Eyewitnesses alleged that the truck driver struck several vehicles in Sango before proceeding towards Agodi, where the vehicle reportedly hit a motorcycle carrying the corps member.
The victim was said to have died following the collision, while other people injured in the accident were taken to nearby hospitals for medical attention.
An eyewitness claimed that the driver was attempting to escape from the scene of the earlier collisions when the fatal accident occurred.
However, the allegation that the driver was fleeing, as well as the circumstances surrounding the earlier collisions, had not been independently established.
The accident caused traffic disruption along the affected routes as emergency responders attended to victims and efforts were made to restore normal movement.

Personnel of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) reportedly arrived at the scene to assist with emergency operations.
The identity of the deceased corps member and the total number of injured persons had not been officially confirmed at the time of the initial report.
It was also unclear whether the truck driver had been apprehended or whether mechanical failure, speeding or another factor contributed to the accident.
The incident has raised concerns about road safety and the risks associated with heavy-duty vehicles operating on busy urban roads.

An official account of the circumstances surrounding the crash, including the number of casualties and the driver’s status, was still awaited.
