Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has welcomed his inclusion in President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election campaign team, saying the arrangement reflects political cooperation beyond the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Wike, who remains a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), made the remarks during his monthly media briefing in Abuja on Tuesday.
The former Rivers State governor said Tinubu’s decision to involve political figures outside the APC demonstrated that support for his re-election was not limited to members of the ruling party.

According to him, the campaign arrangement accommodates individuals from different political backgrounds who have expressed support for the president’s second-term ambition.
Wike identified Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo and Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke as examples of governors outside the APC who had been included in the president’s campaign structure.
He also described himself as a coordinator of Tinubu’s re-election efforts in Rivers State and the FCT, notwithstanding his PDP membership.
The minister maintained that the involvement of non-APC politicians reflected a broader political coalition working towards the president’s re-election.
He argued that the campaign should not be regarded exclusively as an APC undertaking, given the participation of supporters from other political parties.

Wike expressed satisfaction with his involvement, saying he was pleased to work alongside other political figures supporting Tinubu’s ambition.
His remarks further highlight his continued political alignment with the president despite retaining membership of the PDP.
Wike has maintained a working relationship with the Tinubu administration since his apphe was appointednister, while continuing to identify publicly with the opposition party.
The minister’s statements represent his position on the campaign arrangement and do not, by themselves, establish any formal change in his political party membership.
