The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has commenced the display of the voters’ register and distribution of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) across the 27 local government areas of Borno State.
The exercise is aimed at allowing registered voters to verify their personal information, identify possible errors in the electoral register and collect their voter cards ahead of future elections.
The commission’s Head of Voter Education and Publicity in Borno State, Ibrahim Shuaibu, disclosed that the activities would be conducted in phases to ensure wider participation and effective coordination.
According to Shuaibu, specific periods have been designated for claims and objections, during which eligible voters can request corrections to their registration details or raise concerns about entries in the register.
He explained that the exercise would subsequently extend to ward level, bringing the verification and collection process closer to communities across the state.

Shuaibu confirmed that the display of the voters’ register and distribution of PVCs were taking place simultaneously in all 27 local government areas.
He expressed satisfaction with the response from residents, noting that eligible voters had been visiting designated centres to confirm their registration details and collect their cards.
The INEC official explained that the ongoing PVC distribution primarily covers individuals who participated in voter registration exercises conducted in August and December of the previous year.
He added that the state office was awaiting additional supplies of PVCs from the commission’s national headquarters to facilitate the exercise.
Shuaibu encouraged registered voters to take advantage of the opportunity to verify their information and ensure that their details were accurately captured in the electoral register.
He also urged residents who had completed their registration but had yet to collect their PVCs to visit the appropriate collection centres.
The commission maintained that the phased approach would help improve access to electoral services, particularly for residents in communities located far from local government headquarters.

The exercise forms part of INEC’s preparations to maintain an accurate and credible voters’ register while ensuring that eligible citizens have access to their Permanent Voter Cards.
Residents are advised to follow official INEC announcements for details of the ward-level schedule, claims and objections period, and designated PVC collection centres.
