The Anambra State Police Command has arrested a suspected cult member after disrupting a gathering at Abagana Street, Fegge, Onitsha.
The command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, disclosed this in a statement, saying a 25-year-old suspect, Chinedu Ike, was arrested during the operation while other suspected cult members fled the scene.
According to the statement, Ike allegedly confessed to being a member of the Vikings Confraternity.
The Commissioner of Police, Nnanna Oji Ama, has directed that the case be transferred to the Violence and Cult-Related Crimes Unit for further investigation.
The command said efforts were ongoing to identify and apprehend the other suspects who fled the scene.
The police urged members of the public to provide useful information that could assist security agencies in preventing cult-related activities and other crimes in the state.
