The Anambra State First Lady, Nonye Soludo, has donated relief materials and cash gifts to residents of the Anambra Rehabilitation Home in Nteje, Oyi Local Government Area, following their successful rehabilitation and skills training.
Soludo donated during a visit to the facility on Sunday, where she expressed delight at the progress recorded by some of the residents who had been certified medically fit to leave the centre.
She said she was particularly encouraged by the skills acquired by the residents, noting that some of them demonstrated their abilities with confidence during the visit.
According to the First Lady, rehabilitation should go beyond helping people recover, stressing the importance of equipping them with skills, restoring their confidence and preparing them to contribute meaningfully to society.
She said every individual deserved an opportunity to rebuild their lives, adding that access to proper support and opportunities could help people regain their sense of purpose.
“Rehabilitation is not just about helping people recover; it is about allowing them to rediscover their abilities, regain their confidence and find a productive place in society,” she said.
Soludo also commended the caregivers at the facility for their role in helping the residents through the rehabilitation process.
She congratulated those who completed their training and encouraged them to continue developing the skills they had acquired as they prepared for life outside the centre.
The First Lady said the experience was a reminder that people could overcome difficult circumstances when given the necessary support and opportunities.
She expressed optimism that the beneficiaries would continue to make progress and build productive lives after leaving the rehabilitation home.
