The Cross River State Police Command has disbursed ₦13.75 million in insurance benefits to the families of 17 deceased police officers under the Nigeria Police Force Group Life Assurance Scheme.
The payment is part of the Force’s welfare programme aimed at providing financial support to the dependants and beneficiaries of personnel who die while in service.
Representatives of the affected families received the benefits as part of efforts to ensure that the entitlements of deceased personnel are paid to their designated beneficiaries.
Under the Group Life Assurance Scheme, families of deceased serving officers receive financial compensation intended to cushion the economic impact of losing a family member and breadwinner.
The police have described such disbursements as part of broader measures to strengthen personnel welfare and recognise the service and sacrifices of officers.
The Cross River payment follows similar disbursements to families of deceased police personnel in other commands across the country.
